Mini Phunk
Mini Phunk are a brand new kids hip hop crew to hit Sunderland based at Platinum Dance Studio. The age being between 6 & 14 years old.
They have two set training session Saturday when we have:
Street Cheer 11pm - 11.45pm £2.50
It incorporates achievable street style moves with elements such as Locking and Popping, Jump and Freestyle elements, along with Cheerleading Cheers and Chants.
Street Cheer enables participants to develop self confidence, team work skills and experience the benefits of physical activity
Hip Hop 12pm - 12.45pm £2.50
Hip Hop is a funky in fun dance style where we learn variety of old and new urban dance styles from locking, popping, House & wacking, krumping, waving, tutting. This is a very popular form of dance at the moment seen on alot of film like street dance the film step up etc. Also seen in alot of music videos.
Breakin 12.45pm - 1.30pm £2.50
The dance consists of four primary elements: toprock, downrock, power moves and freezes/suicides. It is danced to both hip-hop and other genres of music that are often remixed to prolong the musical breaks. Coordination, style, flexibility, and rhythm are the keys to successful breakdancing. Breakdancing is one of the most improvisational dance styles, allowing for each dancer to customize his or her routine with athleticism and imagination. However, since many breakdancers have created moves that borrow from gymnastics and martial arts, upper body strength is often considered a necessity.
Kids can attend all 3 session for £6.50
Mini Phunk also have a session on a Wednesday from 4.00pm - 5.30pm £3.50
This practice is for the kids that are interested in competing in street/hip hop competitions and also any performance or charity event.
The crew have already performed at the Marriott Sunderland performing at a breast cancer charity event. They have also performed in the bridges shopping centre Sunderland for opening of J.D sports. Mini Phunk are going to be attending their 1st street dance competition in October.
